Book project

Here I want to introduce my current book project.

Even in larger works, like e.g. Ian Hoggs book concerning the German artillery, incompletenesses up to wrong data in larger number are found. There is no work giving information in an exhausting way over the armament of the infantrie and pioneers, the armored force, the artillery and air defense.

I try to change this, which is undoubtly a very ambitious venture. For several years I work now on the data collection, which covers meanwhile more than 625 pages in manuscript form. These are data in pure text form, there are still no diagrams or photos included. It is foreseeable already now that with the planned extent, probably three volumes will develop. Two of these volumes shall be completed at the same time, the third later. Please consider however that this can be still subject of changes and finally depends also on publishing.

Nevertheless I would like to give an overview here, which contents the work is to cover. The following list specifies the different weapon categories.

Infantry weapons
Artillery weapons
  • Flamethrower
  • Rifles and rifle grenades
  • Mortars
  • Hand grenades
  • Infantry guns
  • Combat- and storm pistols
  • Machine pistols and storm rifles
  • Machine guns
  • Mines and shaped charges
  • Anti-tank guns and throwers
  • Anti-tank gear
  • Anti-tank rifles
  • Pistols
  • Explosives
  • Railway guns
  • Field guns
  • Fortress and coastal guns
  • Anti-aircraft guns
  • Mountain guns
  • Howitzers
  • Tank guns
  • Recoilless guns
  • Mortars
  • Rocket launchers
  • Heavy guns
  • Self-propelled variants
  • Storm artillery

The green marked entries cover the categories, which are to be addressed, the red entries the categories, which will remain unconsidered according the present planning. So far only categories are addressed, which base on a weapon system firing ammunition. When the number of pages for the included catagories becomes clear I will consider, if also the excluded categories can be addressed.

After the planned categories are told there is missing an overview, which data shall be listed. These details can be found at the planned volumes.
